Huge Sugar Bowl Thunderegg

Sugar Bowl Thunderegg

This lacks the white cave that gave the location its name - but such a fine specimen at such a size is extremely rare in a bed that is already closed and specimens pretty scarce. The stone's size and striking colour gives it a huge presence on the shelf. Indeed, it is another that deserves the much misused term 'museum-grade'. There is an opaque (black) deposition of manganese and chalcedony on the left.
