Baker Thunderegg

From the Baker Egg Mine southwest of Deming, New Mexico (a few miles north of the mexican border).
The Baker Thundereggs are always lavish and luxurious show-pieces, and are as recognizable as any egg family. This beautiful geode is quite a 'quiet' specimen, with a very large pocket of remarkably clean and sparkling quartz crystals surrounded by a very thin red agate band surrounded again by a green/gray agate lining. The rhyolite matrix is a nice contrasting mixture of brown/tan tones, with the flow-banding clearly visible.
