Rabbit Springs / Jackpot / Jackrabbit Springs Thundereggs
One of Idaho's most familiar thundereggs, yet still not seen very often on the market. These are rather basic stones - maybe even a little on the ugly side to some. They have a simple brown matrix surrounding a rough hydrothermal agate, almost always hollow. One bizarre characteristic of these is that one face of the 'hole' is usually left free from agate. That is the case with both of these specimens below - in one the cut goes right through it and in the other we are looking down at the bare wall at the 'bottom'. The name is often rather confused, mixing the nearby town of Jackpot with the local name of Rabbit Springs, leading to Jackrabbit Springs.
