Every so often, thundereggs throw me a complete surprise. This one ... came from a French antique shop as far as I can tell. It was described as coming from a mountain near the town of Agay, which again places it in the general Esterel/Fréjus area. I can see the kinship, but at the same time, it's very different to anything else I know from anywhere around there. It's also HUGE (for French eggs) at almost 14cm. Strong pseudomorphs, blazing red agate, healed cracks ... I have always had a bit of a 'thing' for the French Esterel thundereggs, and to come across one like this so different to anything I have seen before is very exciting!
