Frieda Bed Thundereggs These eggs puzzle me. There seems no doubt that the Friedas are by far the rarest eggs . . . that are easy to find! They are everywhere! They are relativly valuable, certainly and everyone seems to want them with some vigor - but for a rare specimen, they are remarkably common! I am hearing different info as to the state of the location as well - though at the moment the vote is 2 to 1 in favor of closed and unavailable. The specimens i have seen are characterized by a very nice pale blue agate, which contrasts with a rich-coloured matrix. Often there is green mineralization. Although many are classic in shape, the location also seems to tend towards irregular masses like these below. Going by the info of one of the sellers, the eggs were mined in the 60s and the bed is located near the Warm Springs Indian Reservation - on the Deschutes river, north of Madras. |
