Mill Creek Drainage - Fred's Bed

Fred's Bed eggs are another quite special breed from this, perhaps the most magical Thunderegg area on earth. Fred's bed is on private property and has not been dug in recent years. It is named after Fred Roner, an old time collector from Oregon.  He found it long long ago and, though it was "rediscovered" again more recently, the Fred Bed eggs not the commonest eggs out there. They are very distinctive and really quite beautiful, with a tendency to grow on you over time as you get to know them individually. To me they look even more 'organic' than the fallen tree eggs - though if the Fallen Trees are vegetable, the Fred's Bed eggs are meat. That unique matrix is the key - making them look like some bizarre internal organ.

Located a few miles south of the Fallen Tree Mine in the Ochoco Mountains.
