Desolation Canyon

Desolation Canyon is located on the south slopes of the Ochoco Mountains in Crook County, Oregon - north east of Prineville. This is another of the closed wilderness areas and digging there now comes with a penalty of hefty fines or even jail. Therefore, sadly, these Thundereggs are becoming rare and only a limited number remain.

There were at least nine beds in the Desolation Canyon area with names like Bear Springs, Smokey Blue and Little Smoky Blue, Sleeping Beauty, Fly Ridge, Two Dogs, Lavish Lady and Tamarack 1 & 2 - however, the eggs are basically indistinguishable and are therefore classified together under the name Desolation Canyon.
