Thundereggs from Nevada, USA

Thundereggs from the Calico Hills (McDermitt)

These thundereggs are listed as from near McDermitt, Nevada, though I have since been told that most of the Calico beds are actually in Oregon (McDermitt itself is very near or even straddling the state border). The exact classification of these is therefore rather problematic - but owing to their original (vague) Nevada tag when i bought them and owing to the fact that they certainly fit next to the Baby Doe below (!) I shall keep them here pending further information!

They have a very dramatic appearance - almost grim rather than gaudy. They look ancient somehow (though I have no idea if they are!). I dunno how to express it - but they just look picked at by time. Not worn as such, just hoary and . . . as though they have remained frozen in the badlands for a very long time, ok! So they seem to me anyway. They also seem very prone to forming doubles and clusters.
