The Rennsteig Path [Spießberg] (Green Stained Rhyolite)

It seems there is a lot going on around the Rennsteig Path (a 70+ km trail through the Thuringia Forest) and Spießberg (a mountain not so far from Friedrichroda) - and much of it is not very well catalogued or defined yet! Among the several different kinds of thunderegg here, this type stands out rather with it's very pretty Rhyolite stained with green. A lot of these do not so much have cores as a dense tangle of agate, quartz and rhyolite with crystal inclusions, all muddled together and forming very beautiful smaller thundereggs. When cores do appear, with good agate growth, they can be quite exceptional. This is a location that definitely needs to be explored more.
